Nathan has been developing startup business plans and providing strategic venture consulting services for over ten years. He has worked on numerous deals, ranging from $1-2 million seed rounds, to traditional later-stage VC raises, to initial public offerings, to a complex, $500 million debt-and-equity private placement.
In addition to founding and managing VentureArchetypes, his resume lists the Equity Private Placement Group at JP Morgan in New York, the High Tech Valuation Services Group in San Francisco, and Access Venture Partners in Austin, Texas. His work at these firms included three technology IPOs and nearly 40 successful acquisitions, in addition to numerous private investments and joint ventures.
He has also worked in investment banking equity research for Volpe Brown Whelan, Piper Jaffrey and Zacks Investment Research, and published over 30 articles analyzing technology investment trends. Finally, he was a founder in two companies: an early e-commerce catalog provider, and a clinical trial software startup based on technology licensed from MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Nathan has a BS in Commerce from Santa Clara University and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the McCombs School of Business (UT Austin). While in Austin, he organized the Venture Capital Investment Challenge and co-managed the annual Idea Generation Conference, and he competed in business plan competitions in Houston, Austin, Los Angeles, Winston-Salem, and New York. He was also a member of Venture Capital Fellows and VP of the Entrepreneur Society.
Nathan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Association for Investment Management Research. He is actively involved with the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs (SVASE) and is Chair of the VC Task Force Entrepreneurs' Gathering, a monthly elevator pitch and VC panel discussion event. He is also an annual judge at the internationally acclaimed Global Moot Corp Business Plan Competition, held in Austin, Texas.
Nathan is an avid traveler, and has sailed the west coast to Baja, climbed 19,340-ft. Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, trekked in Peru, Chile, New Zealand and the Himalayas of Nepal, and toured by motorcycle in the U.S., Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
He also enjoys sailing on the San Francisco Bay and riding 'boxer motor' BMW motorcycles.
