Nathan has been consulting to startups and providing venture advisory services for over ten years. He has worked on numerous deals, ranging from small seed rounds, to traditional later-stage VC raises, to initial public offerings, to a complex, $500 million debt-and-equity private placement. He has also led or co-managed several key business development / partnership deals between startups and F500 companies.

In addition to founding and managing VentureArchetypes, his resume lists the Equity Private Placement Group at JP Morgan in New York, the High Tech Valuation Services Group in San Francisco, and Access Venture Partners in Austin, Texas. His work at these firms included three technology IPOs and nearly 40 successful acquisitions, in addition to numerous private investments and joint ventures.

He has also worked in investment banking equity research for Volpe Brown Whelan, Piper Jaffrey and Zacks Investment Research, and published over 30 articles analyzing technology investment trends. Finally, he was a founder in two companies: an early e-commerce catalog provider, and a clinical trial software startup based on technology licensed from MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Nathan has a BS in Commerce from Santa Clara University and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the McCombs School of Business (UT Austin). While in Austin, he organized the Venture Capital Investment Challenge and co-managed the annual Idea Generation Conference, and he competed in business plan competitions in Houston, Austin, Los Angeles, Winston-Salem, and New York. He was also a member of Venture Capital Fellows and VP of the Entrepreneur Society.

Nathan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Association for Investment Management Research. Together with Pivotal Labs, he co-produced the popular 'Project Startup' series of events that attracted a premier roster of web startup founders and executives. He is also an annual judge at the internationally acclaimed Global Moot Corp Business Plan Competition, held in Austin, Texas.

Nathan is an avid traveler, and has sailed the west coast to Baja, climbed 19,340-ft. Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, trekked in Peru, Chile, New Zealand and the Himalayas of Nepal, and toured by motorcycle in the U.S., Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

He recently captained a 36-foot sailboat on a 7000-nautical mile sailing adventure from San Francisco to Zihuatenejo, Mexico and then on to the Marquesas and Tahiti in French Polynesia after a 22-day Pacific Ocean crossing. He currently enjoys sailing on the San Francisco Bay and riding 'boxer motor' BMW motorcycles.

Nathan is an active speaker and moderator on such topics such as startup strategy, startup business development, financial modeling, and raising capital.
